“Humans aren’t a resource to be bought, used and discarded – they are the point of the workplace, the life essence of innovation, growth and success.” Seth Godin
Seth launched his new MANIFESTO – ‘The Song of Significance’. Seeking to inspire Leaders to see what actually matters at work and focus on the people.
It is about:
🙂 Our humanity and how we choose to care about people.
🙂 How we show up at work and in life – treating people with respect and dignity.
🙂 A new deal for work – having a great job, bringing our best self to it and doing work of significance.
🙂 A commitment to build places to work where everyone is doing their best self and getting the chance to make a difference.
I too, have always had an issue with the words ‘Human Resources’. I like his take on this.
It is not a new idea but it is a stuck one – there is a say/do mismatch.
To get into the right mental space to embrace this new message – let’s look at his previous LINCHPIN MANIFESTO!
This is not about the semantics of whether anyone is irreplaceable or replaceable as a Linchpin – it is about a mindset and way of being in the world.
It is about energy and ideas, and getting in the arena.
No, you’re not irreplaceable.
No one is, not really.
If we work at it, we might become indispensable.
The linchpin, is simply someone who would be missed if they were gone.
A MINDSET WORTH CULTIVATING.
The one we take into our work^life everday.
Making ourselves not easily replaced by who we choose to be and how we choose to show up
- Showing up matters.
- Consistency matters.
- Our choices matter.
Yep … sometimes we fall off the bike but the strength of our resolve means we just get back on and keep pedalling.
Mindset matters – if you set about your work^life with a drive to focus on the work that matters most – you will find your song of significance.
Turn up each day, say HELLO WORLD and make something worthwhile happen!
This LINCHPIN kind of attitude is rare, motivating, inspiring, differentiating, rewarding and worth cultivating – as we pedal along.
If you want to recession proof your business or career start here🙂
And by the way ….. irreplaceable is then probably a given.
And you will be doing your part to sing a song of significance!
Your part? The new book provides a shift in the thinking .
The Linchpin Manifesto says ‘the system is not as important as my contribution to it’ and yet for SIGNIFICANCE – if we care about what really matters – to create places where people can bring their best self to their work.
THE SYSTEM IS IMPORTANT AND HAS RESPONSIBILITIES
Linchpin Leaders already know they need to embrace a new mindset, focus and way of working – Seth is presenting a human way to do this. The Song of Significance out now and there are plenty of YouTube interviews where Seth outlines this important message.
